Our eternal search for tea that pushes the status quo, we have paired with a new Maccha Garden in Japan. The Kawane Garden in Shizuoka Prefecture has been growing organic green tea for 13 generations. The quality of their maccha blew us away in taste tests. With our commitment to them, we achieved very fair pricing for an extremely high quality maccha. It’s green vibrancy, distinct ‘umami’ and superior freshness will be immediately noticeable as you sip a bowl traditionally prepared or carve that perfect rosette in the bright green foam. For over 900 years, Buddhist monks have consumed bowls of stone-ground green tea leaves daily. Stone grinding the young tea leaves into the consistency of talcum powder is a delicate process and yields only an ounce every hour. Ingredients: Organic stone milled Japanese green tea.
Nuances: Vegetal, umami, fresh
- Teaspoon: 1 level
- 2 oz hot water (<180°F)°
- Whisk Maccha until smooth
- Top up with 8 oz steamed milk
- Storage: Sealed light proof jar/tin in a cool cupboard. Keep away from heat & light sources.
- Best Before: 6-9 months depending on storage. Optimum freshness in the first 6 months after opening
